Alright, here it is, the new iWatch Series 5.
Despite the fact it’s one of the best if not the best
smartwatch on the market right now money can buy with a starting price of $399,
its pretty good in all aspects anyone can think of, of their watch.
So in this review, we gonna be digging deep to find out why
this smartwatch by Apple is not even On the radar of the other smartwatches in
the market right now, Yeah its actually Dope.
So let's find out!
So what's new in the Series 5 when compared to the last
years Series 4?
Well, not that much but 3 big changes though.
So when it comes to design and build, it comes with
Aluminum, Steel, the all-new Titanium and Ceramic and all of them are
physically identical with their brothers last year and also they now have even
bigger screens than them which are fantastic!
The Screen is the first new thing that is new in this Series. Wondering why is that? Its Always-ON Baby! Finally! Both the Series 4 and 5 have a special OLED screen that Apple developed which is the Low-Temperature Polysilicon Oxide or LTPO in short by the means of Apple’s branding.
And Series 5 comes with a bunch of new chips inside that let
it have a variable screen refresh rate which lets it change its pixels on the
screen as often as 60 times per second or as little as once per second. And the
major advantage of that is it lets this Series radically use less power than
other screens on the market. And I think that’s smart because you know when you
are just sitting down or technically when you are not using the watch and when
its in the ambient mode and that saves battery life.
So now instead of the screen being off now, it shows a dimmed version of your watch face, and when you raise your wrist to see the
time, the monster awakes, and then you’ll be able to see the full-colored watch
face just like any other Apple watch.
And all that means is that you don’t have to be the nerd who
raises his hand in the middle of a conversation with somebody just to see the
time to wake the screen up.
And the big fat question is the Always-ON screen hurts the
battery life?
Well, it doesn’t seem to hurt that much!
Apple claims you can still get the same 18 hours of battery
life that every iWatch is supposed to get but no more than that.
And props to Apple, last Year’s Series outperformed the 18
hours of battery life claim!
And Yeah of course you are right there are smartwatches on
the market currently that lasts for more than weeks or even months but the
thing is none of them can do what the Apple watches can do.
And the next new thing is the built-in compass.
Well, it works well and even gives you a thing called the
confidence cone that gets narrower as it becomes closer to North exactly. But
speaking of magnets yah you guessed it, it can mess up sometimes when you find
yourself in a place with magnets, and that show they work right?
And the next new thing is that there are more cellular bands
on its cellular versions which means it can do a lot of emergency calls
internationally.
And a quick note, it doesn’t work on the regular cell phone
Apple watch though. And the reason for that is Apple needs to do more carrier
deals for that to work.
Well seems like the major updates are just really minor on
Series 5. But, you know what? iWatch Series 5 is still a lot far ahead in the
competition!
And the reason for that is mainly the processor.
Apple is good at making awesome processors for smartwatches
than anybody else.
And then it’s the integration stuff. Meaning, Apple lets the
iWatch do Apple stuff with iPhones than any other manufacturer lets their
smartwatches, like replying to iMessages.Only the iWatch can do that.
And also in terms of the Operating System, watchOS is really
good. So the new version which is watchOS 6 is gonna land on most of the Apple
watches except the first few.
And inside are some new watch faces as usual. But, it’d be
great to see if Apple let some third-party options into the watch, just to have
some fun.
In case you did not know the biggest feature on the new
watchOS 6 is the App Store which lets you download apps directly from the App
Store without the need to pull out your Phone expect for the first time that
you access the App Store from the Apple watch which asks for you to enter your
Password on your Phone.
Well then, Siri.
Siri can identify songs and also bring up search results
from the web and lets, you click into a webpage where you can load tiny little
webpages on the iWatch which is pretty handy too.
Also, there is an ambient noise detector option that warns
you if it's too loud for too long in the place you are in just to make sure it
protects your ears and keep them safe, again props to Apple for doing that
because of the noise pollution that happens these days.
So, why exactly is the Apple watch so far ahead of the
competition? It's not just because of the fact it has an LTPO display a noise
detector or a compass or any feature that I mentioned above. It's just exactly
because of the fact that Apple always tends to make their software better and
roll out more useful features than any other smartwatch while making their
devices more powerful and connected to humans with their daily life.
iWatch is truly an overachiever!
Well, the answer is pretty straight forward. If you can
spend $399+ on a smartwatch that helps you with your daily life and just
overall make things easier and tries to protect and warn you in terms of health
and In an emergency, why not go for the best boy in the market?
But, what if you have an iWatch Series 4?
Well, then it would be more bank-friendly if you can wait for the iWatch Series 6 expected to release in this fall 2020, for more new and advanced features from Apple with watchOS 7.
