DJI Mavic Air 2 Review - The Best Performing Drone For Everyone Yet in 2020?

In this post, we are looking into the DJI’s Mavic Air 2, the latest iteration that is impressive with some advanced features from its previous version, which feels right this time!

Build

Looking at the controllers, you can see that the controller has a huge change compared to the old Mavic Pro controller.

This time, the mobile device you would prefer to use with the controller now goes on to the top of the controller in an innovative horizontal sliding mount so to make sure that it fits all of your mobile devices that has a case on it which the previous controllers failed to achieve in the last couple of years.

It also comes with removable controller sticks which screw in on to the controller which can be stored inside the controller which makes it a completely flat design when the controller sticks are removed, which makes it easier and safer when traveling with the controller so that you don’t have to worry about breaking them from now and forward.

But the main disadvantage of it is that it sometimes can get lost if you have put them in a wrong place, which fortunately only a few people will do BTW, but, technically speaking, most drone owners should be sufficient cause they love their drones so much and store them in a safer place.

But in case you lose the controller sticks, it doesn’t mean that you have to buy another controller entirely because they have replacement controller sticks in their store, which you can buy for about $10, which is pretty cheap, to be honest.

So, next time you lose them, head on to their store, or order a pair online.

And one thing to note is that its always a good idea to have an extra pair with you just in case, so to make sure that losing the controller sticks doesn’t ruin your next project or the fun you will expect to have with the drone.

Features

When it comes to the flight time on the Mavic Air 2, as advertised, you can fly the drone for about 35 minutes straight continuously, which in real life, you can fly for about 32 minutes, which is pretty promising. And that’s a pretty fantastic improvement to DJI’s drones cause that’s a lot of time you can play with the Mavic Air 2 compared to other drones at the same price range and, most importantly, this small.

And when the battery is smaller than other drone batteries, which comes in handy, especially if you are traveling a lot, you can carry a fair amount of backup batteries with you on the go without making your bag bulkier and more massive.

And the charger also charges through USB C, which at the same time also connects your phone through USB C which is a massive advantage because so that you don’t have to carry other different cables, mainly because most of the other devices in the market charges via USB C so to make sure you get all the work done with one single cable which is pretty cool.

The DJI Mavic Air 2 comes with two sensors on the front and 2 in the back, and another two on the bottom, which makes it a total of 6 integrated sensors inside that saves your drones life and your hard-earned money at the same time to make sure it doesn’t accidentally crash and rush to the hospital with any obstacles while flying and having fun.

And having the dual rear sensors is a lifesaver and gives you enormous peace of mind, especially when taking a reverse with your drone buddy to get that perfect shot next time.

And talking about the gimbal in the DJI Mavic Air 2, its pretty better and solidly built and way sturdier than other drones that’s currently out there in the market and at the same time its way more thought through than the other drone gimbals in other drones from DJI.

The DJI Mavic Air 2 is super easy to fly even if you are a beginner and the controls are way more responsive, which lets you get those fantastic looking panning shots than any other drones out there and at the same time the feeling you get out of it is, it just feels way better.

And even when you are flying it on a windy day, it’s going to stay in place without even moving a single centimeter, which is perfect for video shooting in a windy location.

And the propellers in the DJI Mavic Air 2, they are slightly angled upwards to give you a lower-pitched sound when flying it than any other drone in the market.

Also, the DJI Mavic Air 2 comes with 48 megapixels, which is crazy to think about, but in reality, when in photography, they could have made it better, and it doesn’t mean it’s terrible or anything. Still, it’s not that good to impress me when compared to the quality you can get from their other drones.

But for a drone with this price tag with this amount of great features, DJI, Good Job! Props to you, DJI. I’m impressed with the DJI Mavic Air 2 and what it can do and about the improvements overall.

But when talking about the video quality you get out of the DJI, Mavic Air 2 is insane. And that’s where this bad boy shines up a lot, and it is a perfect way better than their other drones in the same price range.

You can get some cool footage with the DJI Mavic Air 2 without any hesitations with many improvements done to the sensor inside, which I appreciate a lot compared to the previous version and other drones in the same price range.

So, should you buy the new DJI Mavic Air 2?

Well, I would say if you are a professional who works on projects with clients, especially in the photography side. If you currently have a DJI drone form the Mavic Pro series, you would be better off staying with your current purchase choice. Again, that’s only if you are on the photography side, and having that bigger sensor on the Mavic Pro Series does magic, not going to lie.

And suppose you are in the cinematography industry or taking video footage for your clients. In that case, you can still go for a drone in the DJI Mavic Pro series because of its bigger sensor and the Mavic Pro series, as the name suggests, it is for professionals.

You can now look forward to the next drone DJI offers while saving some money now for the future, and there’s nothing wrong about it.

But, if you have some cash laying around for a new drone from DJI with some outstanding improvements and especially the video science being perfected this time and having six sensors on the drone to protect itself, especially in those tough shooting times in professional videography, then you can for sure also try out the new DJI Mavic Air 2. There’s nothing any bad about it.

But, what if you are just a beginner to drones?

That’s when the game changes.

If there is a reason I would highly recommend the DJI Mavic Air 2 to you, this drone is a killer in videography with the sensor’s improvements. Most importantly, it comes with the all newly designed remote controller, which is a massive advantage if you travel a lot to get that fantastic footage. The flight experience that you get out of it is unforgettable and remarkable.

DJI is perfecting their technology to give their customers the best drone experience, which I absolutely think is serving justice for the money you put on one of their drones, which I love about DJI.

So, overall the DJI Mavic Air 2, the build quality, the design, the flying experience you get out of it, the camera inside it, the portability, and the six new integrated sensors it houses inside makes it a drone that has overcome failures while learning from its previous versions that DJI had to offer.

And now, it just has become the best performing drone for everyone looking for a drone in the market to start a carrier with or have fun with while getting the best drone experience ever while giving you the best value for your money.
